Job details
The prime function of the Sports Centre is to provide excellent sporting opportunities to our Students. We are responsible for high performance competitors including a Talented Athlete programme, sports club development, the delivery of a variety of sport and physical activity participation programmes and development and support of volunteers in sport.
In addition we also manage sports and fitness facilities for use by the University's students, staff and members of the local community.
Our ambition is to promote health and wellbeing and increase engagement in sport and physical activity amongst the staff and students across the campus inspiring them to embrace long and active lifestyles.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of the strength and conditioning program at the university. Duties will include engaging students and clients through the planning, organising, promotion and delivery of a comprehensive program. This will involve ensuring the safe use of exercise equipment and recommending safe and effective personal programs delivering excellent customer service. The successful applicant will work with and engage with the range of activities associated with the School of Health and Rehabilitation (SHAR).
Candidates will have a HND or equivalent in a sports related subject or equivalent work experience as well as a coaching qualification. Excellent communication skills and IT skills are essential as well as the ability to work as part of a team, setting priorities while undertaking safe working practices. A broad understanding of sport and current good practice guidelines is also essential.
Please note this appointment is subject to both medical clearance and on-going medical surveillance by the University Occupational Health provider and Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
