An exciting opportunity for an experienced Research assistant has become available in the Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine (ISTM) at Keele University. ISTM has an international reputation in the field of Regenerative Medicine and has achieved the highest quality ratings from the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF)
General Engineering panel over almost 20 years.
The successful candidate will support the ongoing research associated with the North Staffordshire Medical Institute (NSMI) project on "A tissue engineering approach to improve lung function and clinical outcome in patients with COPD", developing protocols and participating in laboratory experiments, data analysis and dissemination both within the research group and more widely.
The applicant is anticipated to hold a minimum of an MSc in a relevant subject, equivalent qualifications are acceptable. In addition the applicant is expected to have experience of working in a research laboratory environment with relevant skills including cell culture, imaging and molecular biology techniques. The role will involve significant protocol development and experimental design, implementation and analysis. The successful candidate is expected to support other research team members where possible and will require both the ability to work independently and as part of the wider research team working on this and other related projects.
Please note this appointment is subject to medical clearance and on-going medical surveillance by the University Occupational Health provider.
